Texas Man Slept Next to Fiancée’s Corpse for Days
In Denton, Texas, police say a man spent days sleeping next to his fiancée’s lifeless body after shooting her in the head. 52-year-old William Oddo reportedly told officers, “I wanted to lay with her,” after killing 39-year-old LeVera Wardell during a heated argument.
Wardell’s body lay undiscovered in their apartment for nearly two weeks. Neighbors noticed a foul smell and called police, who made the grisly discovery on May 19. Oddo fled the scene and was eventually found at a motel in Mount Pleasant, where he was arrested for murder and evidence tampering.
Oddo confessed to police, admitting he shot Wardell after she allegedly came at him with a knife. What’s even more disturbing: he stayed with her corpse for three days, only leaving when the odor became too much. Security cameras later captured him buying cleaning supplies a full week after the killing.
Oddo remains in custody on $160,000 bond, as the investigation continues. Wardell’s official cause of death awaits a full toxicology report. This case has left the community in shock, serving as a grim reminder of how quickly domestic disputes can escalate into tragedy.
